The Ostendo Database Service (ODBS) enables you to run the Ostendo application on your Windows PC and have it connect to your Ostendo Database which is running in the Ostendo Database Service provided by Cassini Cloud.

Each company using Ostendo is hosted in the Ostendo Database Service (ODBS) running in their own environment. This means each company has its own file system and database server. We do this so we can provide a high degree of security and performance for each Ostendo company.

Each Ostendo company can have multiple databases. The ODBS service backups up the company databases each night (on a rolling 7 day basis). Each month the databases are backed up on a rolling 3 month basis. The backups are stored in a separate data centre.

Each month the ODBS performs optimisations on all Ostendo databases. This way you experience the best performance we can provide to your Ostendo application.

The cost of the above backups and optimisations are included in our single per user per month fee.

We recommend you engage your Ostendo consultant to set you up in our ODBS. We provide a web portal that your Ostendo consultant logs into.

In that portal your consultant can upload a backup of your Ostendo database (you must be running Ostendo version 243 or later). The ODBS will automatically restore your database into your dedicated ODBS environment. It will generate a special file called the Ostendo Config file. The portal gives you a function so for each Ostendo database you can download the config file. You then load that config file using the Ostend Client Configuration app into each of your PCs running Ostendo. Then when you launch Ostendo you can choose which database you want it to connect to in ODBS.

In summary the simple process is:

1. Upload a Ostendo database backup file to Cassini ODBS web portal
2. Download the Ostendo Config file from the portal
3. Load the Config file into each PC running Ostendo
4. Start Ostendo and select the database you want to connect to

The Ostendo Client Configuration app (click here to download this app) gives you the option of downloading your Ostendo databases at any time.

We will send you a web link (unique to you) so you can enter your credit card details (we will not store your credit card details in our systems anywhere). We use a third party credit card company Stripe Ltd which we use to charge your credit card each month.
